What is it and How does it Work?
Hydro Gold mulch performs like straw because it is straw. The only difference is that we mechanically and thermally processed the fiber so that it flows through a hydro seeder as easily as wood fiber. Straw was never a hydraulically friendly fiber because it did not hold moisture like wood…until now. Our Biotic Earth line of Hydraulic Growth Mediums are scientifically proven. The incorporation of Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss gives critical organic material that soil on construction sites so often lack. By roughing the soil and spraying either the Biotic Earth HGM, Black or the BFM you are adding one of the four basic components that make up top soil the other three being air, water, and minerals. When we strip the topsoil or if there is no topsoil to begin with we are dealing with sub soils which are made up of the physical mineral portion either clays, silt or sands. Air is added through tillage and the natural pore space of the mineral component and water is a factor of your location. In most areas of North America, Europe and the tropics, there is enough rainfall to sustain a mature forest on a very thin layer of topsoil. What is missing in all subsoils however is the organic portion. At 5% requirement for a healthy soil, Verdyol’s biotic earth provides that essential missing ingredient in a hydraulic form, which is the easiest and most cost effective way to apply organics over a large area.
Once you have the combination of the 4 key elements of soil, other components such as micronutrients, Mycorrhizae (my-crow-rise-ee) and growth stimulants are required. That is where our Biotic Earth Black is perfect because it has 60% peat moss and 40% Straw mixed with Mycorrhizea at 6,000 propugals per bag as well as Alfalfa meal which contains organic plant based fertilizers 3-2-2 and a Tricontonal growth stimulant to help the vegetation grow thicker and richer. The Biotic Earth Black is specifically designed for poor soils that are usually left behind on most construction sites. Biotic Earth BFM is a 80% straw and 20% peat moss blend that has the same additives as the Biotic Earth Black in addition to the benefits of cross linking tackifiers and polymers giving you a stronger erosion protection on top of the hydraulic growth medium. In all biotic applications it is important to take soil samples to test for nutrient deficiencies Blend in slow release fertilizers as required. Your soil test will show you the PH and you should adjust the soil to be between 6 and 7.5. Lastly check to see the organic deficiencies of the soil so that you can select the appropriate amount of product to apply. Many hydro seeders are saving their customers thousands of dollars in topsoil costs by using biotic mulches. |
